Post subject:  Good Mini-ATX board? And other considerations

Hi, everyone.

I am itching to try out KnoppMyth, and I want to use some hardware I have lying around:

* Video: Either GeForce MX440 w/RCA or GeForce FX 5600 Ultra w/S-Video
* RAM: 512mb PC2700
* Hard Drives: Data on 2 x Seagate Baraccuda ATA-133 80gb, system on Quantum ATA-133 20gb drive
* Sound: SB Live! Value, if onboard is not suitable
* Case: Mini-ATX

I've been looking at the teir-1 entries and I would buy the mother board and capture card suggested with one of those, but I can't see a single Mini-ATX board. Anyone have any suggestions there, with 1xAGP, 3xPCI? Any processor, really, but I'd prefer to go AMD.

As to capture card, I'm thinking of using a Haupauge PVR-250 for primary and adding a second card, maybe a cheap WinTV-GO, for secondary recording.

Thanks for any input...

well this is pretty outdated now, but the original recommended mb was the chaintech 7nif2, I still have a system based on that board, and it works just fine, and it's a microATX board. Though I don't know if you can even get it anymore, and it's of course AthlonXP not Athlon64.

I had problems trying to get that chaintech board, I got an asus a7n8x-vm instead. Its pretty much the same apart from the svideo connector is on a bracket instead of on the motherboard.

for Athlon 64 the Asus a8n-vm looks good, but I don't know if its properly supported in linux yet.
