Post subject:  Multiple Capture Cards

Hi all. I'm a long time lurker making my first post. I finally got R5A26 up and limping but I am having a bit of trouble. First my setup:

BACKEND...
P4 Celeron 2.2G
PVR-150 (MCE or non??? I got a grey remote)
ATI TV Wonder
PCHDTV HD3000 HD card
1Gig ram
GeForceFX video card (nvidia)
hda MAXTOR 30gig with all of the normal MYTHTV filesystems loaded and mounted
hdc MAXTOR 320 Gig as an LVM pv
hdd MAXTOR 200 Gig as an LVM pv

FRONTEND...
Modded unnamed Micro$haft machine running XBMC

First, I had no issue with R5A16 with the bttv cards. Then I got bold and bought a PVR-150(yes, i know...bleeding edge but I'm a glutton for punishment) and an HD3000 card and upon reinstalling (not upgrading) to R5A26 got a black screen when xwindows starts. Beat this up for a few days (different OS, Gentoo, Knoppmyth R5V26, Ubuntu,Fedora Core 4,etc) decided to go back to R5A26 as this was the latest to support ivtv and the PVR-150. Just as I was about to give up, (#^%^$!!!) I thought to give the analog output of my video card a try.(One of those 'you're probably over-engineered the problem so just go back and look at the easy stuff you doofus!') YEA!!! Black screen gone...all is F, D, and happy! strikechief will have aPVR for sure now!. OK. I said I have three capture cards, a PVR-150, a WINTV card and the HDTV card. The only card I see when I do a dmesg is the HDTV card. Hooked it up to an antenna and yes,I can tune stations. Here's my issue:

1. I want to use the Hauppauge PVR-150 as my default capture card. (hardware encoding)
2. I want to use the WINTV-PVR card as the backup to the default.
3. I want to use the HD3000 card to capture the few broadcast HD streams we have here in my area.

Right now, the only card I can use is the HD3000 card. tvtime lets me scan for channels and I can watch this card in MYTHTV. I want the PVR-150 to be the default in MYTHTV.

If I need to send logfiles or anything like that please drop me a line. I'm not linux (*nix) ignorant but I'm definately not known as a guru. Thanks in advance.

Post subject:  Update to Multiple Capture Cards post

Alright, here's an update. I pulled the HD3000 card from my box. Right now it just has the PVR-150 and the TV-Wonder. I'm currently running R5A26 and can use the TV-Wonder in Mythtv. I thought that there may have been an issue with ivtv so I installed it again. (Yes I know it's in R5A26 but I was pulling my hair out. tvtime --device=/dev/video0 works like a charm. tvtime --device=/dev/video1 returns couldn't open device. I then had a thought that maybe they didn't (or couldn't) ship the firmware for the card. Tore the house up looking for the CD then found the firmware and associated files online. Updated, still no joy. My latest dmesg is posted below.

The first card defined will be the first card used, so define the 150 first in mythtv-setup.

Post subject:  PVR-150 not loading

Yeah,I got that but if you look at the output from dmesg you'llsee that although the ivtv module is loading, the card's firmware never loads so it never gets assigned to /dev/video1. I'm going to look further into why the firmware doesn't load but I'd appreciate any recommendations you may have. Thanks for the reply anyway.

Have you checked the obvious like the files containing the firmware exisiting and having the right permissons?

Looks to me like ivtv isn't seeing the card at all, or there would be a lot more between Start and End Init IVTV lines. Have you tried reseating the card and/or a different PCI slot? Maybe try with only the 150 in the machine? Just guessing..
