Hi All,
I'm really excited about R5A26, all of the new features look like they're going to be a hoot, and the speed of changing channels / exiting the Program Guide with my PVR-350 output are greatly improved!
However, I have two major bumps in my road to bliss - I cannot get anything but static on my PVR-350 (video0), and I cannot get audio OUT of the 350 (I am running through the sound card, and the hardware is unchanged since prior to upgrading).
Things *look* normal in /var/log/messages, and I can hear audio fine in MythMusic and Xine. So it's not the soundcard, it's audio out of the 350.
Has anyone else encountered this? I'm going to ping on the ivtv list as well, but since the other two cards (the 250s) are working and the 350's video output is gorgeous, I am stumped and looking for all the help I can get. Three hours while the wife was gone, and I couldn't get it sorted - now LOML is home and needs her Law & Order: Criminal Intent fix!
Many thanks,
Steve

Some more info, gleaned after checking out the ivtv Wiki's troubleshooting page...things seem to look like they should....?:
1) ivtvctl -V
version = 0x00000400 (0.4.0)
comment = (tagged release)
cardnr = 0
hw_flags = 9e
ivtv -P confirms that it is set to the tuner (input
= 4)
2) md5sum /lib/modules/ivtv-fw-*
305dba74bbe5905447add8883f3ecb68
/lib/modules/ivtv-fw-dec.bin
d85cb08382395390dc95ac6ebc2205f9
/lib/modules/ivtv-fw-enc.bin
3) /etc/mythtv/modules/ivtv has had the "alias
char-major-81 videodev" line commented out.

I don't have a 350 myself, but the problem I have had many times in the past when upgrading/setting up new boxes is when you do not set a default channel in mythtv-setup. nothing shows up, just fuzz and no audio when you go to 'watch TV'.

Ah, mechanical failure and wicked files!
My problems are solved (at least the ones pertaining to my Myth system...). Here is what I learned, in case I can save some poor soul a couple hours' work:
1) Static on PVR-350 - #%$*!'ing cable failure. Just so happens that I bought all new "high quality" short coax leads to hook up to the tuners, and one of them had a damaged wire. Grr.
2) No audio when watching Live Television - Discovered that my new card was a PVR-150, not a PVR-250 (aah, the joy of buying a 'kit'...). Per the IVTV Wiki, I downloaded HcwMakoA.ROM and put it into /lib/modules. Found a posting in another BBS suggesting that it was a cause of the lack of audio and recommending that it be removed, and tried that. Bingo, audio coming from all three tuners.
And now I am enjoying the bliss of the new Knoppmyth R5A26, three days so far with no partial recordings and NO random pauses/freezes in PVR-350 playback. I am thrilled!!
Steve

What happens when you are watching live TV on the 350, and you bring up the on screen guide? Does it crash the front end, dumping you back to the desktop?

Nope, it works as expected - the worst that USED to happen, was I'd get a black screen when exiting the EPG until hitting Escape again, but that's gone in this version.
