Hello. I'm new to mythtv although i have always wanted to make a PVR. I have read a lot of forums and kinda know what I am doing, but I still need some help. I am thinking of getting:
SilverStone Lascala SST-LC11M w/VFD and Remote, Black...$219.99
Gigabyte GA-K8N51GMF-9, AMD 64, Socket 939, nForce430, 4GB, MATX...$79.95
AMD Athlon 64 3200+, Venice, 512KB L2 Cache, Socket 939 - Retail ...$169.99
SuperTalent PC3200 1G (512MB x 2) DDR400 Dual-Kit CL3 ...$89.00
Maxtor DiamondMax 10 200GB 8MB SATA150 7200RPM Hard Drive ...$109.95
Sony DWQ30A 16X Double Layer (8.5GB) DVD+-RW Dual Drive, Black ...$49.95
Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-500MCE...$139.95
Gigabyte GV-NX62TC256DE 6200 TurboCache Up To 256MB DVI/TV/HDTV ...$59.95

Will all this work together and with MythTV. Because i'm a noob, i am using Knoppmyth. I just wanted to know if everything is supported under linux.
Any response will be great.
Thanks again

BTW - Good detail, the SATA drive is the main potential issue I see. Also, have you searched the Tier 1 and Tier 2 hardware recommendations for anyone using that motherboard?

I read on the forums that VIA motherboards are a pain. The motherboard says that it has:
integrated peripherials:
- VIA VT 6307 IEEE1394 controller
- CICADA8201 Gigabit LAN PHY chip
- Realtek ALC880 Audio Codec

Will this be a problem and does anyone know how to work with it?

I am buying it from PCalchemy.com

I wouldn't go with the nforce 430 motherboard if I were you. They are brand new and as such aren't supported that well in linux yet. Although they do look damn good for a htpc :(

The Via firewire controller isn't a problem. It's the Via northbridgeand/or southbridge chips that have issues.

I've installed knoppmyth and there is no audio. I am using the onboard 7.1 channel audio codec RealTek ALC880 and nothing happenes. I have gone through alsaconfig and it could not dectect it. Does anyone know what to do. Anything would help.
