Post subject:  ATI Remote Wonder Range, am I the only one using gymnastics?

Hello,

So am I the only one that has to position myself and my remote *just so* to get the thing to recieve?

It works fine when:
1) I hold the remote directly above the receiver
2) I hold my hand above my head as far as I can reach
3) When I sit in the middle of the couch with my hand raised just so and the remote "pointed" to the ceiling
4) I do the remote wave
5) I threaten the remote

To try to fix this I've:
1) replaced the remote batteries with fresh - name brand - batteries
2) positioned the receiver in every possible location constrained by the presence of a shelf and the length of the cabling
3) searched this forum
4) posted this post

Is this range normal?
Is my remote broken?
Can this possibly be a configuration issue?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I got a remote with the haupauge pvr150 - maybe I'll try that one.

Thanks!

Sean

I have the exact same issue with my Remote Wonder. I have been considering replacing it, but I really like the RF (when it works) and the numerous buttons. I've yet to find a different remote that fits the bill. I'd switch to IR if need be, but I really like, and use, the extra buttons.

I used to have the same range issues with my Remote Wonder until I put the receiver as far away from the PC as I could, using a 3 ft USB extension cable. The receiver now sits on the top of an entertainment center - the PC is in a cabinet at the very bottom of the same entertainment center. I have no problem controlling Myth with the Remote Wonder anywhere in the room, or when using a second Remote Wonder in the bedroom upstairs (the bedroom is directly above the room where the receiver is).

I think the key to getting good range from it is to move it as far away from any noise (the PC, the TV) as you can. In my case, that 3 ft extension cable made all the difference.
