Post subject:  Asus Pundit-R350 Sound Problems (Maybe Video related)

Hi all.

I just bought a pundit-r350 to use for my entertainment room. I have been using Knoppmyth R5A26 on an old Celeron 1 gig Asus Mobo for about a month with everything working perfectly.

I have a celeron 2.66 in the pundit-r350, 512 of ram and PVR-150 capture card.

I did a clean install and opened MythTv and found the tv playback to be choppy. I did some looking around and found that if I turned the closed captioning off it would help the video. So I did that and the video is much smoother (Never had to do this with my old system).

The problem is that when I change channels the sound stops. If I pause live tv for 5 or 10 seconds the sound will be fine, syncronized perfectly.

I installed the ATI drivers and this really had no noticable effect. However when I run the fglrxinfo I get Mesa for all the lines. Does this mean the ATI driver didnt work?

I tried running the sound config program and it went fine.

So I am still stuck trying to figure out why the sound stops.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Just an update... I installed Windoze Media Center on it and it works flawlessly!?

Why is linux such a pain in the arse sometimes?

Perhaps you should petition companies to release Linux drivers (or better Linux drivers).

Agreed.

I grew up using Mac computers and was forced to use windows for work. I was hoping to have a linux MCE pc, bought the wrong hardware obviously. Oh well I guess i a am stuck using windows for now.

Sounds like you need a nvidia video card. Or a hauppauge pvr-350 will work for s-video/composite output.
