Post subject:  Nova-T no channels found during scan, only transports...

I'm trying to get knoppmyth running with a nova-t card, but am hitting problems trying to get mythtv to find the channels during a scan.

The nova t works if I tune it to say tzap "BBC ONE" and then dvbstream to a file - I can happily watch the resultant mpg so I know the card is ok and is working.

So far I can get the mythtv setup to scan by providing some details on a tranport stream (ie 489833330 (rowridge bbc mux)), it will happily sit there and scan that and a few other transport streams but it never returns any channels...

I've also then tried scanning using existing transports, but still no channels!

Anyone got any ideas?

When you did the scan, did you set the bandwidth to 8mhz? if not that might be your problem!

I had to set the bandwidth to 8MHz to get mythtv to lock onto a signal...

I've tried various settings based on the channel.conf generated by tzap, but i'm still missing the channels in mythtv.

If I run fillmythdatabase then a channel list appears but trying to view tv the backend says no pid set... so they don't seem to be 'real' channels, just ones based on the xmltv data... should the tuning info come from the channel scan or from the xmltv?

The tuning info comes from the scan, you then have to link each channel to the info from xmltv (or use the over the air listings).

BTW, what version of knoppmyth are you using?

If you are using <=r5a16 consider using a later version!

If you are using r5a22 definitely read this guide: http://www.mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewto ... 5a22+novat

If you are using r5a26 then the above guide will probably help too...

I'm running R5A26, I was looking at lots of guides when I was trying to get this working, but I tired this guide word for word and it seems to have gotten tv working (I'm guessing creating the xmltv file with one channel seems to have enabled the scanning - this time when scanning the transports it actually shows it adding channels - I don't know why that didn't work before).

I just hope the TV guide updates over the air now!

By the way - Merry Christmas everybody!
