Is there a way to disable compress of live tv? Simply have it output directly to the screen?

Really I don't see myself need / using the pausing of live tv feature, however I am very attracted to the other features while watching live tv.

thanks,
mike

well I dont' think there is a way to disable it, That question/suggestion would best be posed on the mythtv mailing list, but just out of curiosity what features are left after you remove pause rewind fast forward etc that would all go away with removing the cache.

The features I happen to like most of all;

Live TV related
Info / On screen display
EGP (Browse mode) Watch tv in a minibox while EGP is up

Everything else mythtv has to offer from, Recording Scheduler to Mame (-;

Being able to pause / rewind, really isn't that important to me, in fact I'd trade it in a flash for the ability to change channels faster (-;

Yeah, ditto that. I've already dropped a couple hundred on the project (and haven't even begun building my final box, just a prototype) before learning of the 2-3 second delay. That kind of scares me. I love channel surfing, and am not sure I'd like that very much. This is the very reason that I haven't upgraded to digital cable. Maybe a future version will have the option to disable the live tv pause/ff/rewind features. I suppose I could just switch over to tuning with the VCR while surfing, which shouldn't be an issue I suppose.

It probably will still be an issue as the video input (in this case your vcr) is buffered. Changing channels on the vcr would still exhibit some delays.

I meant straight from vcr to the tv (no mythtv), then switch back to mythtv afterwards...
I know I'd lose the onscreen display, and the guide - which would suck.

I'm suprised this feature (disabling live tv) has not been implemented! It would be very nice.

I hope the suggestion has been made.
