Im running knoppmyth with a PVR-350 on a 2GHz celeron with 512 MB RAM and 128MB NVIDIA card. Im thinking about adding a HD3000 to the mix, and was wondering if anyone is running it with similar hardware? Obviously the PVR-350 takes quite alot of the load off of the processor - will the HD-3000 struggle in live TV or recording or does it use the NVIDIA card to achieve the same effect? |

for the record, a bit of googling turned up the suggestion that a 3GHz+ CPU is the go for these things, though I suspect that might be overkill. The cards are pretty cheap so Im just going to buy one and see how it goes, I'll post back my experiences once i've installed. |

you might be able to "squeeze" by with a 2Ghz celery if you use xvmc. Note that xvmc still has some issues even though it is becoming usable. If you didn't know xvmc is the mpeg2 hardware acceleration on nvidia cards. Also the pvr350 hardware mpeg2 decoder will not decode hdtv. |

yeh i know pvr-350 is limited to analogue which is a shame, its an awesome card... if all goes well and the hd-3000 card actually works I will evaluate performance and upgrade the m/board and CPU if needed, and maybe add a second card. |
