Post subject:  PVR-500 Channel Change Problem

Hi all,

I have been searching around for a couple of days and just can't find the answer to this issue, a shove in the right direction would be great.

I installed my PVR-500 as per the How-To on the wiki, and it seems to work mostly. And I think it's set-up properly, I get this when I
cat /var/log/messages | grep WinTV

Code:
Jan  3 16:59:51 mythtv kernel: ivtv0: Autodetected WinTV PVR 150 card (iTVC16 based)
Jan  3 16:59:55 mythtv kernel: ivtv0: Initialized WinTV PVR 500 (unit #1), card #0
Jan  3 16:59:55 mythtv kernel: ivtv1: Autodetected WinTV PVR 150 card (iTVC16 based)
Jan  3 16:59:57 mythtv kernel: ivtv1: Initialized WinTV PVR 500 (unit #2), card #1

I cannot change channels on the second tuner at all

1:tuner0 changes channels/records shows just fine.
2:Tuner0 is stuck on channel 4

Some things I noticed:

When watching live tv, i can bring up PIP and view chan 4
I can switch to the other tuner using Y on the keyboard but cant change channels
When usint 2:Tuner0 I have no program data to browse
When usint 2:Tuner0 my VFD displays no channel or program info

Any help at all would be appreciated, because I am stuck.

Check out my How-To on the subject. Especially the part about setting your /dev/video1 up to use Zap2it.

Hi ethernut,

First, thanks for a good write up on the PVR-500 install, I actually followed it when I originally set the card up.

Doh! :oops: I must have gone back to the setup screen at least four times and each time I kept missing the error, I had

[MPEG:/Dev/video0](Tuner0)->Zap2it

selected twice like this...

[MPEG:/Dev/video0](Tuner0)->Zap2it
[MPEG:/Dev/video0](Tuner0)->Zap2it

I found

[MPEG:/Dev/video1](Tuner0)->None

Further down the page, changed it over to Zap2it and ran mythfilldatabase, All is good!

Now to move on to configuring more of this great project, Knoppmyth and MythTV rocks!

Linux is kinda cool too ;) but after twenty years of MSdos/Windows, the learning curve is steep, it's getting easier though.

Thanks again!
