Is anyone else having a problem getting the silver remote working on R5A30.1 with the Hauppauge 250 and the silver remote? Its worked for me on R5A16 and 22 right after a freash install. After a fresh install of R5A30.1 I cant get it working at all. When I pick the gray remote option it 1/2 works. Only some of the buttons pressed will peerform a function.

I've had a problem with my remote all along.

I've been able to get the thing to work for about 30 seconds. (really -- enough to get 6 lines out of irw) I'm sure the issue is connection with the (#*&$) ir cable. (at least in my case)

If anyone has any ideas on how to verify this, I'd apprecaite it.
My assumptions are:
1. If the configuration file was wrong, it wouldn't work at all.
(yes, I know if the config file was wong the wrong buttons might be identified, but they would all show something, right? even if the identification was wrong)

2. The fact that I got output in irw which went away the minute I turned the case around, points heavily towards an intermittent connection.

I'm now planning on taking the board out of the box, soldering a new connector on a short cable to make sure the damn thing seats correctly on a regular basis, failing that, I'll just snip off the connector on the ir cable, and solder it directly to the circut board. Radical I know, but the remote not working is the last piece for me that I'm truely frustrated with in the knoppmyth experience. and I can't blame anyone on the 'software side' for a hardware issue.

My case is definately not an internittent connection. I ran some tests and rules that out. I have a silver remote so when I select: (16)Hauppage and (c)
silver I cannot control the screen. I could before with all of the previous versions of Knoppmyth. I select (b) gray remote and a few functions will work.

Mine "worked" after selecting the silver remote. But several of the buttons were named the wrong thing. So I had to reassign the functions in "/home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc". Run irw to see what command each button makes; change the values in "/home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc"; reboot. And you should have a working remote.

I followed your instructions ryanpatterson and have things set up perfectly now. Thanks for your help.
