I just converted my frontend only system to a wireless using ndiswrapper. All seems to be going well with a strong signal and 54 mb/s. Mythtv comes up and I can watch Livetv and my recordings but after about 15minuts to 2 hours the system will freeze and crash. I have noticed some jumpiness with the video preceeding the crash so I am thinking this has something to do with network latency. A couple of questions.

1) Is there a way to increase the amount of buffered video stored on the front end? I would think that this would help it weather some shortterm interferance. I did some searching and found a post about modifying the mplayer config file but I could not find that file on my system (R5A30). I also read in an old post that mplayer was not used for TV functions. Is that true???

2) After a crash I have to reboot the backend system as well as the crashed frontend to get the frontend to reconnect. Is there anyway to get the backend to reset from the remote frontend.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am hoping to watch an entire episode of Scrubs tonight without having to go down and reset the backend. :D

1) I'm pretty sure the only way to increase any buffering would be by modifying the code directly as I am not aware of any settings. And yes it's true that mythtv does not use mplayer for tv playback, it uses it's own video playback engine/program.

Hmmm. I was afraid of that. May have to go with a wired network afterall. Oh well... honey where is my drill at. :D

How about question 2. After the frontend crashes, the backend wont let it reconnect. Is there something that can be done from the remote frontend to tell the backend to let it reconnect?
