Screen was nearly black on reboot after auto-install.
I got my MSI NX6200AX-TD128 working using the 8178 nvidia drivers.

Followed instructions from the thread and used 8178 instead of 8174.
http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=7244

I couldn't see anything on the monitor, so I needed to login remotely (SSH using putty from windows PC) to edit and run script.

On KnoppMyth box:
AutoInstall R5A30.1 then reboot - near black screen
Swapped to console window (ctrl-alt-2)
Logged-in as su (mythtv<enter> mythtv<enter> su -<enter> <password><enter>)
Started network (netcardconfig<enter><enter>)

Then I was able to login from another machine to edit the script and run it. Powered off the machine to reboot it, and then all was working!

Yeah, I had the same problem. I just used a Mepis disk to edit the nvidia-install scrips and everything in RC.x to point to the latest NVIDIA drivers.

X booted up fine, and had formidable glxgears scores...but...XvMC seems to be broken on the 6200. I exchanged that card for a 6600 agp, and that worked wonderfully with XvMC and newer drivers.

Now I am facing another hill...return the 6600 agp, and get my NF430/GF6150 set up actually running. It won't be running with XvMC for a while, but I have enough juice where I won't need it. Hopefully NVIDIA will make a fix for it sooner than later.

tdmsys, try a search on the forums. XvMC is talked about everywhere - if you can't find an answer by searching, then post your question, but try to be as specific as possible.

putty is a great little tool that let's you ssh into your linux machine from a windows machine. There's a wonderful howto on the Knoppmythwiki. Go here: http://knoppmythwiki.org/ and click on the HOWTO pages.

I can't speak for the nVidia 6200, but the 6600 works well, so I'm assuming you're in the same ballpark. KnoppMyth is very clever about detecting your hardware and choosing the right drivers, but somewhere along the road you will probably have to do some tinkering. What version of KnoppMyth are you using?

Couple of pieces of advice: do your homework before posting a question. There are several people who frequent these forums and are very willing to help out a newbie (I speak from experience!) but they expect you to have done a fair amount of research on your own first. In other words, search the forums and read the wiki! 99% of the time, you'll find your answer! Secondly, it helps if you include some more information about the hardware you are running and what version of KnoppMyth you're installing (as well as any driver updates, etc. you may have done).

In your string of questions you ask... "what are scripts..." did you really mean to ask it that way? If so, you may want to get yourself familar with linux in general (and writing/reading script files) before taking on the this endeavor. But don't be frustrated... it can be a LOT of fun!
