Ok this might now belong in Hardware. I know it doesn't belong in installation, and so well if i screwed up sorry.

Right now i have 2 tuners. Getting a pvr-500 so will have 4. I notice that now with 2, the tuners are listed under system info as tuner 3 and 4, not 1 and 2. Also, tuner 4 is used first, and when that is in use, tuner 3 is than used. So by that, when i have 4, it will go 4,3,2,1. So my two questions:
I know one of my pvr-250's is going bad, is there a way to tell which tuner recorded a certain recording? Like it doesn't always happen, but at times i get a bunch of blocks in a recording and each recording after for awhile, but not the other recording that was made at the same time. Then also sometimes, halfway through a certain recording, the sound begins to echo, but again not on the other recording made at same time. This is not a continuance one. Hope i made sense, if not, i'll try to respond more clearly.

My Second question is:
When I get my pvr-500, how do i determine where to put it in the machine so it becomes tuner 4 and 3, so it's used first. Since it's newer i would like to use it first for all recordings, unless i'm recording more than 2 shows at a time, which happens friday nights (lucky right now though Sci-Fi rebroadcasts Battlestar Galactica at 1am) and certain times when specials are on the cable channels. Also, is there a setting in mythtv to set which tuner should be used first? And isn't there a message that gives the serial number of the tuners so you could determine which tuner is what, to make sure you're using the tuners you want?

In myth-setup I beleave there is a "priority" option. I'm going on memory but check on the page where you assign a channel listing to a tuner's input. Set the tuners you want to be used first to a higher priority and you should be all set. I don't know why your current tuners would be listed as #3 & #4.
