Trying to get samba working. I can't ping the other LAN computers from the KnoppMyth box. I don't get an error- just nothing after the command. This computer does however respond to ping requests from the rest of the the LAN, just can't initiate them. Also internet connectivity works fine, which puzzles me. Using R5A30.2 Any ideas? thanks |

You'll need to give more info what are the other machines? XP's? firewall enabled?.. |

bonarez, thanks for your reply. I am able to ping to my KnoppMyth box from XP and 98. Athough trying to ping them from KnoppMyth gives no response. There are no software firewalls and this is all being done inside the router. doing an 'ifconfig' on the Myth box looks good- I think. No sure what to look for but the ip address is there and no error messages. |

have you tried pinging the router? what are the subnetmasks on all machines? 255.255.255.0 should work It could still be that icmp echo is disabled on the other machines, but you don't really need it, if samba shares are up you should be able to access them.. what errors do you get when trying smbmount or mount -t smbfs? |

SOLVED It was a firewall problem. Zone Alarm was not completely shuting down. I had to disable it from start-up. Now my WIN to Mythbox networking is working. |
