I installed myth for the first time last week and reported my machine as a Tier1 install. I will now have to modify that post or modify my hardware.

I currently have a MSI GeForce MX400, I think. Everything works great untill I try to use S-Video out. Using the sample nvidia tv XF86Config-4 file, I get a very narrow picture. From what I understand I should be able to correct this with nvtv but I have not had luck. To resize the screen to something other than 800x600 or 600x40 I will have to recompile nvtv, I think.

My preference is to have widely supported, tier 1 install hardware, so that in the future, updates to software will be simple. My question is, would buying a $30 cheapo GeForce FX5200 from Frys, be more supportable than my existing card? i.e. can I plug in this card, do a re-install, copy the sample XF86Config-4 into place and be watching live tv on the s-video out without having do anything else outside of the UI?

Thanks in advance for your input.

If you're going to spend money you might as well look for something like this:

I've had mine for years, never any problems with it, no configuring needed, 1024x768, perfect monitor clone
