Hi I have the backend up and running, have also managed to run frontend on another machine and web access and ssh both working fine. I do not seem to be able to get a stream when I 'watch TV', I get a static Image of top half of screen TV snow and bottom half of screen is like a malformed Image download (If anyone knows what I mean) for about 30 secs or so and then sometimes a screen that says an Error occured and others I just get returned to the control menu with watch TV highlighted. If anyone has any clues or tips about it would greatly appreciated. edit Hardware Being Used MotherBoard MicroStar 6321 pro, with onboard fasttrak ATA Raid (VIA Appollo) Video Card ATI 32MB Rage Fury Pro TV out, Several years old now Processor(s) PIII 733 (x2) Memory 512 MB Hard drive 80 GB Seagate Barracuda (x 2) one on IDE 0, one on Raid Channel 0 MPEG Encoder RealMagic Hollywood plus (Not sure if this is even deteced) TV Card/MPEG Encoder WinTV PVR USB2 (Seems to have been deteced, but shows snow for about 30 secs and then errors) I'm running: R5A30.2 Edit Using composite in I have now managed to a single frame of video for about 30 secs then I am returned to the menu. I have looked in the backend.log and the only apparent error is to do with VBI, I know it is supposted to be disabled, but I don't know how to disable it. Cheers. P |

Not a reply an update on my progress. I still have the same problem with Watch TV in myth frontend, but after several hours of reading I tried mplayer /dev/video0 This had possative results, this displays a stream, not a very good quality one but it does stream the input to the pvrusb2. Can anyone with more knowlegde of myth point me in the right direction. P |

Have you tried unplugging the wintv from the usb and replugging it back in? You've seemed to hit every item in the Hardware to avoid sticky. Was it alot of work gettiing it to this point? Popa Tim |

Nawh... He's only hitting 50%, he doesn't have a SATA drive or a USB keybaord/mouse. ![]() There was a thread a month or so back about what was required to use the Hauppauge USB based external tuner. I'm kind of wondering however if you've got a fast enough USB link, since a MoBo that old probably doesn't support USB2.0. |

Thanks for the replies guys. I have now also tried on an Intel chipset motherboard running a 1Ghz p3 and I get a very simmilar result. I get about 5 seconds of snow then a static image of snow for about 30 seconds and then I get returned to the menu. I have found some error's but I am at work at the moment and haven't got access to the machine. I am going to attempt to run mythtv on Fedora core4 and see if there is any difference as I will have to compile the pvrusb2 driver myself. the hardware works fine under Win XP on both sets of hardware tried therefore I would conclude that USB 1.1 ports should work under Linux. |
