Well its official. VIA chipset sucks. I know all you HEADS know this already so this post is for more of us new guys. (I'm not even that new) To give you a little background info I posted a while ago with the IR blaster problem. I was having EXTREMELY wierd sh1t happening. Lirc not starting and when i did start it when i ran IRW it would crash. Wierd stops with the video/audio. Everything taking longer than it should (Program guide, channel change, usual sh1t that happens with non user friendly interfaces). No error messages or error logs. Needless to say this took the wind out of my sails on my S.S. PVR. I just got into the PVR revolution and being a CHEAP A$S i like to go with FREE shipping every chance i get. Well by doing this I recieved my Hauppauge 150nonMCE first (AMAZON. COM) and my mother board and chip not until 3 weeks later (MSI and Intel Celeron D (new school!)). Needless to say this will be the last time i am doing the free shipping deal. During the 3 weeks this TV card was of course burning a hole in my proverbial pocket so I decided to use it on my current desktop system. 1.1 GH Athlon XP A7V333 motherboard Via kt266 chipset(I know, BLECH, but a painter's own house is rarely painted nicely). The only thing i changed was the motherboard and now I am DANGEROUSLY close to a Tier 1 setup. Basically tier1 setup with the tweak script that i wrote. (to be released this week). So all i have to say is if you have WEIRD sh1t happening. Change up the chipset. It will work wonders. (For a little insight on my Subject heading, King of the Hill headz will understand.) Peace, KC |
