Thanks to a lot of help found here on the forums I have my main Mythtv system working. And it is awesome. However I want to use a couple Xbox systems as front ends. I ran into a snag installing the frontend software and wonder if anyone here can help.

I have followed the instructions on controlaltdeleted.com and bit.blkbk.com repeatedly with limited success. I can’t seem to get past the first stage successfully. It seems I do not have permission to create directories on my Xbox. I have tried every way I can think of to remedy this and nothing has worked.

My Xbox is modded via the softmod and am booting to the evox dash. I have created the Xebian disk and am able to boot to it with no trouble. I can change the IP so I can download the Mythtv files. I can ftp to the Xbox, I can create fstab entries to mount partitions, I can do lots of things but the changes are mainly gone when I restart since I can’t create directories. It either says I don’t have room on the partition or I don’t have permission. I have tried to chmod the directories also. Could you please help me? Do you know what I am doing wrong? Or can you point me in a direction. I am a newb but I was able to get the main MythTV system going. Thank you in advance.

KnoppMyth offers no support for the xbox nor will we. Perhaps asking on the xbox forum...

Hey Rob. I just found that script a couple days ago and am trying to make that work instead. It seems like a good solution but something in my mysql or samba settings is messed up because it times out when trying to connect to my mythbox.

NoDrugAds, ensure that you have enabled networking for mysql as it is turned off by default.

In the config file comment out skip-networking ( I think that is it, do a search of the forums or wiki it may be able to direct you more accurately if you can't find it)

Then don't forget to restart the computer or mysql.

Just a tip, you may want to move this discussion to the General - MythTV area as installing MythTV on an Xbox has nothing to do with KnoppMyth.
