I just want to get a feel of what you all use to make your MythTV box as quiet as possible. Right now I got the stock CPU fan from my AMD chip and that sucker sounds like a jet engine when I turn it on. Once I get my new case and check out the Power Supply fan, I will order the new CPU fan (and maybe new Power supply). What do you guys do to keep your box quiet? what type of hardware/fan?

Funny you should ask that as I was just specing parts for a new mythbox. You may want to look at these items:

and these for the cpu:

With this heatsink and cpu fan combo you wont hear much noise if any, and the power supply reviews say that this supply is incredibly quiet.

Now off to find some quiet drives....

I've got a coolermaster black desktop case and I did a hell of allot of research on the quite factor and this is what I have in it with regards to quite components. Mind you, the box make zero noise .

Seagate Baracuda 120 gig drive (One of the quitest out there)
Zalman Silent-Pro 400w Power Supply
Zalman CNPS7000 Aluminum Heatsink & Variable Speed Ultra Quite Fan
Panaflow Silent Exhaust Fan.

All of these components really made my system almost soundless.

I have replaced the power supply and fans with ones from EndPCNoise.com

NX-3500 Power Supply
Zalman CNPS7000-AlCu
Nexus 80 mm Real Silent Case Fan

Unfortunately I left the Western Digital hard drive in and you can hear it whine. Overall it pretty quiet though.
