I am having problems with my Knoppmyth R5A30.1 box and an RCA 420 receiver. I am using version 1.4 of the Directv.pl script. Every time I call the directv.pl script I get “Error excessive retries”. I tested the cable with a windows box and the dtvcontrol app and it works fine, so I know the cable and the port on the tuner are good. My box only has 1 serial port /dev/ttyS0, so I even added a USB adapter /dev/ttyUSB0 and I get the same results.

Hey Dennis-

I am getting the same problems. I was wondering though, why are you adding the argument, to the command line?
I am pretty sure that it assumes stty0 unless you specify.
Where did you get your DTV script and what type of RCA box do you have?
I have 2 versions of the script I am going to try again and I have a DRD420 RCA (older model).

Let me know if you have gotten it to work! If I am successful with this script, I will let you know.

I finally got mine to work by emailing the author of the directv.pl script. He updated the script to support the older rca codes.
