Post subject: | PVR-150 Specifications |
Have others managed to get the PVR-150 working with 480x480 resolution? Recording in "default" mode should have gotten me 480x480 resolution, with shows taking 1.1GB per hour, but instead I get the full resolution with 2.2 GB per hour. Help! Jason |

2.2Gb/hour is what you should expect with the default PVR MPEG2 profile, and 1.1Gb is the norm for a half hour show. If you look at the bit rates listed in the default profile, a little simple math should show that the expected size range is something like 2.0 to 2.7Gb/hour. |

The resolution doesn't determine the file size. The file size is determined by the bitrate. Setting 480x480, 720x480, 720x240 or any other resolution will still give you 2.2GB/hour unless you also change the bitrate in your recording profile. |

I'm seeing the same thing. Where do i setup the different values for my recording profiles? My recordings are coming out at 480 by 480 also (and also 1.1gb per half hour) and I'd like to look at changing things around. If I awnt to be dumping these recordings onto DVD I would need to change to a DVD Compliant resolution, no? |

No. Every DVD player I've ever tried seems to work fine with that. The secret is that all DVD modern players are multi format. I've burned stuff from 480x480 recordings for a half dozen different folks and none of them have had any trouble with the resulting DVDs. |

I'm actually running into troubles in my authoring software..... using a windows program to try and burn a DVD (just copied the files from the pretty folder that i'm seeing on my mapped mythtv drive). My authoring software is complaining that the resolution is not DVD standard. Should I ditch this and find software that will do this? Just out of curiousity, is there a place where i can view and/or change the settings for each of the recording profiles. Is there a page out there somewhere that describes the difference between "live tv" and "default" and "low" and "high"? I tried to look this all up, but the knoppmyth wiki was down due to bandwidth usage. |
