Post subject:  Stupid me! Abit via chipset! ANY SUGGESTIONS?
ok so i order a ABIT KV-85 mobo yesterday from new egg and then i come across the sticky at the top of this bored that says avoid via chipset! so basically what i wanna know is if any one has any experience with this bored. should i send it back and pick another or should i bite the bullet and test it out (because once its open i cant send it back right?)? i am going to be using a hd-3000 and pvr-150 on it so im assuming im gonna have to send it back :( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813127229

system will contain the following:
200Gb hard drive
1 gig ram
amd sempron 3100
pvr-150
hd-3000
ABIT KV-85:Chipsets
North Bridge VIA K8M800
South Bridge VIA VT8237R

I don't have direct experience with VIA, so I can't answer whether it will work or not. But as for returning:

without knowing whether it will work well, I wouldn't open the box.

refusing delivery of the box would probably be good.

Calling NewEgg and telling them you've made a mistake, want a different board, and are going to refuse the first one, but can they please ship a different one, would probably be the best option.

yea i was thinkin that but i think its gonna be aproblem because i ordered a bunch of other stuff with it so its gonna come in one bigbox

Personally I haven't had too many problems with VIA. Now..Abit boards from Newegg, 3 out of 5 I've ordered for customers have been damn near DOA. One had a weird quirk of rebooting the pc (in windows) any time you hit Burn Disc in google's picture manager app.

i think ill go ahead and give it ago because if the bored does arive doa i hear new egg is pretty good about exchanging parts. my stuff should be here monday so if any one else can add any more input it would be greatly Appreciated.
