Post subject:  Can I use my Twinham remote?

I have a twinham remote with my dvb card. Seems to be mapped to keystrokes, so some functions work, but not all.

Can I remap this? , or can someone suggest a new remote that will work well.

If I get a new remote, how do I configure it in an already 'up and running' myth system?

Run irw at the prompt, point the remote at the receiver and start pressing buttons to see if all the buttons on your remote get registered. If they don't, the problem is in the configuration file /etc/lirc/lircd.conf.

If they do, then it is just a matter of mapping them properly for myth, and the file to change in that case is ~mythtv/.lircrc which is symbolically linked to ~mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc

Lem and Greg, I have tried to use IRC with my Twinhan remote, but could never get it to work. irrecord would register the button presses, but irw would not. I had another thread on this, but it died a slow horrible death with no solution.

I would like to get my remote working as I have two of these remotes (2 x DTV cards) and obviously it would improve the WAF. Any help would be appreciated.

Post subject:  same here...

I have a Twinhan DTV Alpha USB tuner and I can't get the remote working either, despite several different attempts and quite a few hours of mucking around. The number keys seem to work okay, but nothing else does. In case it's of use to anyone, I wrote an email to the guy who wrote this:

http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/e ... ist=mythtv

(as it didn't work for me), and he suggested the following:

Quote:
your [tuner] is using Driver=dvb_usb_vp7045 and Cls=ff(vend.) which
are vendor specific. Your best bet is to have a look at that driver and see how it handles the remote. Somewhere is that driver is a translation table converting remote keys into keyboard keys.

...

If you don't use a keyboard on is computer you may get away with using
xmodmap. Probably the easiest thing to do is to use mythweb to change the key bindings. Ctrl-Alt-F1 to a console and run 'showkey' and press the buttons on the remote to find out what they are.

I'm not a C coder, but looked at the source code just in case I was able to do something with it. I wasn't.

I've pretty much decided that I'll either be patient and wait for someone else to come up with the solution, or buy an IR receiver and use it with another remote instead.
