Post subject:  Can't see second DVICO DTV DVB Card during install

As seen in my sig I'm using two DVICO Fusion 5 Gold Plus PCI cards. During install/boot I can see messages scroll by that indicate that both tuners are recognized, but I can only choose DVB Card Number 0. When I try to select #1 it says:
"Frontend ID: Could not open card #1! Subtyps: No such device"

I have already tried configuring just one and continuing and that works, I had audio and video. I know they both work fine since I've repeated the install with each card individually installed and that works. I just can't get both to be recognized by myth during install.

I'm using the R5B7 image

picked up a second dvico lite card today, installed it, but when trying to install the new card within myth-setup I only get a dvb card on the "0" card number. 1, 2, and 3 all come up with no coard found.... still got the night to tinker... so who knows... will keep you posted

The following was a reply to the identical post of mine in the mythtvtalk.com forum, by "auroramyth" one of the moderators there. I will look for the directories/files tonight after work. I don't quite understand his second paragraph.

Quote:
The following may depend on your distro of Linux, but on mine each DVB card has a separate directory under /dev/dvb ie., adapter0, adapter1, adapter2
In each of these directories, there should be listed something like 'frontend0'
Check you have a frontend device listed for both your cards. I reckon you'll probably find one for the first card but not the second since this would seem to be what MythTV is complaining about.

That may help you pinpoint the issue better for resolution but I don't have a magic answer. I use 3 Hauppauge Nova-T cards and when the modprobe executes it finds all three. However I do have the problem on mine that the cx88 driver doesn't load up the frontends straight away from the modprobe (but that applies to all my cards, not just 1 or 2 of them). I have a line in one of my startup files that reloads the cx-88 driver again and then all the frontends appear and Myth finds them OK
