Post subject:  compiling lirc on R5B7

Hello!

Because my remote (Hauppauge A415-HPG attached to Nova-S Plus) didn't work out-of-the-box with KnoppMyth R5B7 (only the 4 arrows do it), I want to compile Lirc myself, so first I did this:
Code:
 apt-get remove lirc
 apt-get remove lirc-modules-source
 apt-get remove lirc-x
 apt-get remove lirc-svga

After this and a reboot the 'arrows' still work, even if I rename /etc init.d/lirc and the files in /etc/lirc and reboot again.
So what Lirc does it use then ???.

Is this ok and I can go on downloading lirc and compile it or is some special tweaking necessary? The postings / Wiki here seem quite old about this.

Thanks,
Kai

It has to do with the input-device driver - if you like to know how I got it to work, read my HowTo :
