I just got a remote that came with my HD-5000. It is a technisat remote with a label on the back that says TTS35AI.

I tried running lircd-reconfig.sh, but when I select 39 for technisat, I get the following message.

Quote:
Sorry, I don't have details on setting up your remote.
Please contact knoppmyth@gmail.com with details on your remote.

I found an lirc.conf file at
http://lirc.sourceforge.net/remotes/technisat/TTS35AI .

I'm not sure if lircd is configured correctly or not. I had it working with a PVR-150 and the IR reciever that is built into the card. This new remote is just a DB-9 connector with some IR hardware built into it.

When lircd starts, this is how it runs.
Quote:
/usr/sbin/lircd --driver=default --device=/dev/lirc

Any time I run irw lircd crashes with the following error. I think this is because I removed the PVR-150.
Quote:
Mar 22 21:19:25 mythtv lircd-0.8.0pre4-pvr150[6139]: lircd(all) ready
Mar 22 21:19:37 mythtv lircd-0.8.0pre4-pvr150[6139]: accepted new client on /dev/lircd
Mar 22 21:19:37 mythtv lircd-0.8.0pre4-pvr150[6139]: could not open /dev/lirc
Mar 22 21:19:37 mythtv lircd-0.8.0pre4-pvr150[6139]: default_init(): No such device
Mar 22 21:19:37 mythtv lircd-0.8.0pre4-pvr150[6139]: caught signal

I tried running the above command on /dev/ttyS1. Here is the error after running irw.
Quote:
lircd-0.8.0-CVS[6203]: accepted new client on /dev/lircd
lircd-0.8.0-CVS[6203]: could not get hardware features
lircd-0.8.0-CVS[6203]: this device driver does not support the new LIRC interface
lircd-0.8.0-CVS[6203]: major number of /dev/ttyS1 is 4
lircd-0.8.0-CVS[6203]: LIRC major number is 61
lircd-0.8.0-CVS[6203]: check if /dev/ttyS1 is a LIRC device
lircd-0.8.0-CVS[6203]: caught signal
Terminated

I tried the above on ttys0-4. Any ideas?

mike

Followup. The Technisat remote that came with my HD-5000 for "free", is worth what I paid for it. It is not suitable for use with a myth box. It does not have the buttons you would want. I did get it working though.

I'm not sure how my mythbox knows that the IR receiver is now on a serial port instead of the PVR-150. I ran lirc-reconfig.sh and selected the PVR-150. I then modified /etc/lirc/hardware.conf and set DEVICE=/dev/lirc.

I then used my Hauppage remote with the serial IR reciver with irrecord. I used the resulting config file to replace my lircd.conf. I had named all the buttons to match my existing .lircrc file so that's all I had to do.

One problem with the config is that many of the buttons have to be pressed twice to work. This was not the case with the built in IR receiver on the PVR-150. It is strange. If I run irw I can see each button works, then doesn't, then does, then doesn't. It is like it is toggling in the remote, but I know that is not the case.

What could cause this in the configuration of lircd?

Followup to the having to press a button twice for lirc to pick it up. There is a fix for it here in the FAQ. http://www.lirc.org/faq.html

It just suggests using a generic remote config as a starting point for irrecord. This fixed my lirc problem.
