So I looked thru the Tier 1 and couldn't find a single micro-atx board that uses Pentium 4. I have a Asus P4P800-VM and using a HD3000 / GEForce 6200 and can't get the HD quality to be good. I have a DVI going direct to my few year old DVI port on my 46in Sony RearProjection TV. Picture not so great and thinking it might be a bus or Mboard issue. Anyhow, if anyone has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate. I want to use my existin Case and P4 Northwood 3giger. |

You should give a more descriptive picture of what you are seeing. 3GHz system sound plenty, maybe it's your video card, I've heard others using a 6600T had no problems. I had a 5200 on a Windose machine that kept dropping frames... Test your video card to see if XvMC is being used by opening a term window (Alt-X), cd to /myth/tv and type in mplayer -vc ffmpeg12mc -vo xvmc a_video_file.nuv and see if it will play or complains about dropped frames, etc. Check out entourage's experiences with 5xxx/6xxx cards: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=8019 |

Sorry I was vague. Basically I can't watch live tv with any HD modelines. I've tried a billion different ones and PC just locks up when I try to watch live or recorded HD. I'm using the DVI input on my tv and tv natively supports 1080i, not 720p (If it get a 720p signal is converts to a 1080i). So I've tried using apowerstrip to get a good modeline and just got frustrated after about 2 weeks and gave up. Also bootsplash does not work however I hear frambuffer support on nvidia is not to great but I assume it works on the dragon with is a Nvidia anyhow. So who the heck knows! |

Don't think you'll get 1920x1080 with a 6200. After reading through the link in my previous post, it looks like biggblukat got it to work with 5900 card at 1080x1024: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... 8191#48191 Don't know if your TV input is HDMI, but heard others having problems with DVI->HDMI from PCs with certain TVs (avsforum.com). |
