Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone can help. I can't get any sound out of a K8U-X motherboard. I'm a linux/knoppmyth newbie, which is probably the biggest problem!

A search turned up some instructions:

to run
modprobe snd_intel8x0 buggy_semaphore=1

I do that, but modprobe doesn't give any feedback (should it?) cat /proc/asound/cards/ still reports no soundcards. I'm guessing I must be missing a simple step... but what is it?

Any help appreciated.

modprobe -r snd_intel8x0 and then try again, usually no feedback means its already added
