I'm doing some experimenting, so I've moved my PVR-150 to an Asus PP-DLW in preperation for a faster DTV box. When I plug the PVR-150 into anything other than the 32-Bit 33Mhz slot, the system will not power on. Is this normal? Here are the slots I have available. One 64-bit/133MHZ PCI-X, three 100MHz PCI slot, and 1 32-bit/PCI. Can the PVR-150 only be installed in a 33 MHz slot? Can the HD-5000 be installed in other than a 33 MHz slot? Is this common for PCI cards? I'm concerned about being able to use network, wireless, and sound cards in a system with only one 33 MHz PCI slot. mike |

The majority of pci cards will only work in a 32bit 33Mhz slot. The 64bit 133Mhz slots are more commonly used in servers and workstations for scsi cards, gig Ethernet cards and workstation graphics cards. Most Desktop boards only have 32bit 33mhz slots with newer boards also having pci express. I would be surprised if the PVR-x50s worked in anything but 32bit -33mhz slots. Unfortunately I think that board will not work out well for you. |
