I'm scoured the web for info and am still stumped.
Could someone more knowledgable provide a howto for lirc. I have a logitech ultra x remote that be great for myth if I could map some of the functions. As it stands it some functions are represented as keypresses (in a similar fashion to the ati remote wonder) but some of the more useful ones aren't.
However it's a 2.4Ghz model rather than IR, so it might not work. However I have the twinham remote which does have an IR receiver.
Having searched though this forum, I don't think I'd be the only person who would be very grateful for this info.

PS. I'm using R5A30.2 and the receiver is a USB unit.

I've made some progress on this. I'm assuming that the pre-installed lirc module only works with the remotes specified in the setup page, and that if you're using a homebrew receiver and another remote (supported in lirc) that you have to remove the original lirc and 'roll your own'?

I don't think that is the case. It is just a matter of configuring the way things startup properly. I have used a homebrew receiver in the past with the default knoppmyth lirc.
