Post subject:  PVR-150 B&W on 2 channels - Snow on rest of channels

I have Knoppmyth installed with PV-150. I think knoppmyth is R5B7. Anyway -

1) I have Black & white picture on channels 5 and 6 (I can increase the color settings in mythtv-setup all the way and have a very washed out color picture)
2) Just snow on any other channels
3) I can record without a problem the black and white channels or I can record the snow and playback without a problem.

Is this my cable wire connection? Or is it something to do with the ivtv drivers for the PVR-150.

I've run myth-setup and setup the PVR-150 using the tuner and MPEG. Any suggestions?

I have PIII latitude from dell. 256 megs of ram. nvidia chipset. Everything seems to be working fine - except video is black and white on just two channels, and snow on any other.

In mythtv-setup - I scan for channels and only channels 5 and 6 are picked up. All the other channels that appear have been retrieved from program guide listing.

Please help!

Sounds like you chose the incorrect option in mythsetup. I had the a similar issue where I would get everything except channels 5 and 6, but once I switched to Cable-IRC from Cable-Standard all channels came in. It's simple enough to try each option to see which one works for your cable system.

Alt-2 to stop the Backend
Alt-S to run myth -setup
Change the setting
Scan for channels
Alt-3 to start the back end

Others good and 5 & 6 bad - you picked us-cable and need us-cable-irc

Others bad and only 5 & 6 sort of work - you need the opposite of us-cable/us-cable-hrc from what you currently have.

I think we've got this on a wiki page somewhere... Maybe...

Post subject:  It Worked! Thank You!

This was certainly the problem. I actually had to switch from us-cable to us-cable-hrc. I tried the us-cable-irc without any luck, then tried the hrc. I scanned for channels and everything appeared. I am now watching mythtv on my backend/frontend, my windows xp machine through samba, my laptop wireless and my modded xbox running xbmcmythtv script. MYTHTV is GREAT! I am so happy now. THANK YOU for your help!
