Post subject:  ATI TV out, xv video strechted

I'm having problems with tv-out.Debian Linux(etch),xorg 6.9.0.ATI driver version 8.23.7
If I select PAL (or PAL-M) on the Bios TVOUT setting, when I play a video with xine, mplayer,or any other xv accelerated video player, the video is displayed strechted,as if it had double its normal height, but thru a normal viewport, thus only showing half of it.
If I select SCART_RGB, the video is played correctly but my tv shows everything in black and white.have tried both svideo and RCA tvout.
If in PAL mode i turn off XV accelaration in xorg.conf, the video plays with correct height, but with many frames dropped. (have tried many resolutions and color depths)
Any ideas? (system is an asus pundit with integrated Radeon 9100 IGP).

Hi,

what kernel are you using with that driver?

I'm also trying (hard!!), to solve this problem, but I cannot get the driver to work with my 2.6.14 kernel!

Thanks

Thanks. I finally managed to get older drivers to install. I thought that the kernel sources were in place. But I never realised that /usr/src/linux was a symlink to a non-existent directory. untarrting the kernel sources, then reinstalling the older driver worked a treat!
(fglrx 8.20.8).

Cheers

Post subject:  Let ATI know

Have anyone thought to let ATI know about this problem? Please report it to them at https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&questionID=1714, it's a bit of a drag, but maybe in some future release of the drivers we can use all the neat new stuff available, like pairmode and tv-geometry.
