Post subject: | No Line out slot |
I have recently been trying to get myth tv to work and after tons of problems i finally got it to work (learned tons about linux in the process too). However i have no sound. After hours of searching for a solution i came to the conclusion that the problem lies in the fact that the sound card has no line out slot neither internally or externally. If anyone knows how to get a driver working without this cable or how to solve the problem another way please let me know. I have the card working perfectly under windows. Boffy |

If it has no line out port how do you connect it to your speakers? |

I dont normally connect the card to my speakers. The sound just comes out of the sound card automatically in windows. |

WOW a soundcard being used as it's own speaker?!?!? well that's a new one on me, and I work on computers everyday. I imagine it is a new one on linux too, and you are SOL. |

ok well now a tvcard and a sound card are two different things. a hardware tvcard like the pvr250 usually has a line out port, but doesn't need it to operate. I don't use the line out on my pvr250. The sound get's muxed into the video stream. however I do use the line out port on my soundblaster live to get the sound to the speakers. I've seriously never seen a soundcard that doesn't have the ability to output to speakers. I think you must be mistaken about how it's working. |

Oh...the sound card has line out its the tv card that has no line out. Sorry was not very clear about that. My tv card must also mix the sound into the video stream. Does anyone know of a program for linux that can decode the audio from the video? Boffy |

what kind of card are you using? |

yes we need to know what kind of card you are using. If it is a pvr250/350 or m179 then they create mpeg2 streams and anything installed on knoppmyth by default can decode the audio from the stream. |
