I was looking for a cheap way to start with a combined Frontend/backend. If this works out well I would continue to use this Pundit or Hetis as a frontend and build a big, bulky backend. I wanted to use Knoppmyth because I have some experience with linux, but would still consider myself a lowly NOOB. The two barebones I was looking at were the: Pundit-PH1 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16856110046 http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=1&l2=3&l3=0&model=999&modelmenu=1 But it uses a ATI Radeon XPress 200 chipset which for linux I was told to stay away from ATI. MSI Hetis 915 STD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16856101241 http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=Hetis_915_Standard_Black_(RoHS)&class=npc It uses a Intel 915 GV chipset. *Note the "Lite" model does not have S-video or DVI Both of these barebones have S-Video, composite (RCA), and DVI out (Would the S-video out be supported?) My final question is, do these DVI to Component video adapters work so I could display the image on a normal TV with Component video in? This has been a great resource and I cannot wait to start building a MythBox. -Chance |
