Firs off I am a unix newbie therefore I appologise if my questions seem simplistic...

I have a setup which uses the ASUS TV-FM CARD which is based on the Philips SAA7134 chipset. I am aware that R4V2 does not yet include support for this hardware by default.

There is an early alpha driver for this chipset however at http://bytesex.org/saa7134, so I thought there should be a way to get this installed. Based on the information that I have so far the SAA7134 driver:
b) requires a kernel of 2.6.2 or better OR
c) requires a 2.4.22 kernel or better with the 19_videodev patch applied

So for starters I upgraded the current 2.4.21-xfs kernel in KnoppMyth to version 2.4.24 from ftp.kernel.org. I actually downloaded the kernel source and compiled it based on the configuration file of the 2.4.21-xfs kernel. I also patched the kernel with the saa7134 driver which is supplied as a patch.

The kernel boots just fine and recognizes the card on the PCI bus (e.g. lspci -v will show the PCI card info), however during the boot process the KnoppMyth card detection script fails to recognize the card!

Is there a way for the KnoppMyth script to recognize this card and load the necessary drivers atomagically, especially since even the driver loads fine using 'modprobe saa7134' at the command line? Perhaps someone has a working script alread?

Thank you in advance

The script that detects cards when KnoppMyth starts is to detect and configure PVR-x50. You can just place the module in /etc/modules... Sending the actual output of lspci would be helpful.

The output from lspci -v is below....

What should go in /etc/modules ? Is it not the /etc/modules.conf file (that IVTV uses) the one you refer to?

If you could help with the contents based on the information below I would much appreciate it...

you should be able to add the SAxxxxx (forgot that number) at the end of your /etc/modules
and that should load that module during boot time.

I did that for joydev to load the joystick modules during boot time for my mame
