PVR-150 remote doesn't work (R5B7)

Post subject:  PVR-150 remote doesn't work (R5B7)
I put together a new computer and installed KnopMyth R5B7. Most things just worked, but I cannot get the remote control to work no matter what I try. It's a regular PVR-150 with the silver "dog bone" remote, where the colored keys are in a row at the bottom.

/var/log/syslog shows many messages, all of which seem to indicate success:

I ran irrecord. It does respond to the remote, suggesting that the hardware is okay. However sometimes it doesn't wait until I press the key on the remote, instead it jumps ahead to asking me for the next key name. Here is the output from my latest attempt:

The duplicate names are there because each time it didn't wait for me to press a key on the remote, I entered the key name again and it waited until I pressed a key. The duplicate codes hopefully tell someone what the problem is.

I did check that the IR receiver cable is plugged in all the way. I actually returned my PVR-150 to the store and got a different one from a different store, but the remote behaves the same way. Video capture works fine. The PVR-150 is labeled "Rev C599" on the TV input module. The computer has an ECS NForce3-A motherboard and an MSI FX5200 video card.

Update:
I replaced the ECS motherboard with an Asus K8N, but that didn't help. I've now replaced both the motherboard and the PVR-150, so I don't see how it can be a hardware problem. With practice I have learned that irrecord will see a two key presses for every key I press on the remote. I wish I knew what to do about that...

Just read this in another post here and it worked for me... give it a try...
