G'day folks,

I have just installed R5B7 with the above card. It is correctly ( or not as it may be) recognised as a type21 device, then in dmesg it complains about not being able to initialise the frontend.

I read on Chris Pascoes site that he has updated the drivers to include the Xarlink ZL-blah chipset which is used on the Plus rev 1.1 cards.

So, presuming that I have diagnosed my actual problem correctly, how do I go about taking the latest DVICO driver source and making it work with the latest Knoppmyth release (R5B7 ?)

Thanks in advance

Matt

Have you tried following his instructions?

go to my hg tree at linuxtv.org ( http://linuxtv.org/hg/~pascoe/v4l-dvb ), click "tree" and then "gz" or "bz2" to get a tar file with the current development code in it. To build, follow the steps at the Public CVS and Mercurial Access page ( http://www.linuxtv.org/repo/#build ).
Post back if you have problems following the instructions with a bit more detail about where you are going wrong.

G'day,

It wasn't so much that, the confusion was just whether I had to do anything kernel-wise. I'll try the build following his instructions and go from there.

Until you posted, I wans't aware of this new version of the DVICO Plus card. Support for the T1, [original] Plus and Lite have been in the kernel since at least 2.6.13 I think. But given the stuff on Chris Pascoe's page, I do think that you will need to do some compiling.

G'day

Ok, I have downloaded the new source ( had to download to a windows box then scp it to Myth as I couldn't get a browser to work or find the correct url for wget :) ) Anyway managed to get it to change channels etc. Channel changing is really really slow, don't know what that's all about.

If, by "really really slow" you mean about 2-4 seconds, that is about what you can expect from mythtv. This is a consequence of the way it records to file and the plays back from the file when watching live tv. The good thing is, you probably wont watch too much live tv anymore. Much better to watch recordings so you can skip the commercials. I basically never watch anything live anymore. Even when I want to watch it while it is on, I'll record it and start watching the recording 5-10 minutes after it started to avoid the pain of sitting through commercials.
