hi. i'm new in this sector. i want to build a low budget htpc, using mythtv. i need to use a dvb-s card. but i'm wondering if encoding will be necessary, because i will use a pentiumIII 800mhz processor and the software encoding wouldn't be such a good thing. i heard that dvb-s doesn't need encoding because the signal is just streamed by mpeg2, so that the card have just to save the movie recorded, but i don't know if this is true. so i hope that someone can help me.

As far as I'm aware, DVB simply dump the stream to disk.
