Post subject:  rca to line in adapter

Hello, I have a simple query.

I have Hauppage PVR 350. For the audio part of installation, it mentions to connect the audio out of the pvr-350 to line in of the computer, and from the line out of the computer connect to tv.

can anyone tell me the exact name of the adapter which converts the rca audio out to computer line in, and where can i get it ? I went to radioshack and described him my requierments, he did not know what i was talking. when i searched on the net, i came across "rca to 3.5mm", "rca to 2.5 mm" etc, was'nt sure which one to use..

I have a cable which connects "line out of the computer -> rca input of the tv", can i use it reversibly ? ie instead of connecting the rca male of the cable ( which would have gone to tv ) to the pvr-350 audio out (female), and the single end which was connecting to line out of the computer to line in ?

thanks

The cable you have will probably work, but only for one audio channel (left or right). What you want is a cable with 2 x RCA male at one end, connected to a male 3.5mm stereo connector at the other end.

From the RCA out of a satellite receiver box, what type of cable do I need to get the sound into the PVR350 card? Ideally I would like to use the svideo out of the satellite receiver into the svideo in of the pvr350 card.

I definately got myself in over my head with this project if I can't even figure out the cables :? .

I was able to get the sound to the tv working when I used the coax into the pvr350 but the video quality was sub par so I'm trying to use the svideo capabilities.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks infinitenothing. Would I just get a cable with female adapters on both ends then? The cable I have has an svideo and left and right male rca plugs on both ends.

No you just need the variation that has female RCA connectors on the twosie end. Say like this: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103710

BTW - Make sure that the cable isn't putting a lot of cantilever strain on that adaptor.

Thanks TJC. I'll get the adaptor ordered. Wish I would have had it already. I had to resort to taping lost tonight :)
