Post subject:  My TV output is in grey scale

I copied the nvidia-XF86Config-4.tvout.sample to nvidia-XF86config-4 as I found in the post about moving to tv out. When it is booting up I see the Knoppmyth splash screen is in color and looks fine but when it gets all the way booted up it goes to gray scale. I have a Dragon specs built system and I am using the composite out on my N6200TC card. I have went into the nvidia-settings program but none of the adjustments seem to help. Has anyone every seen this before is there a setting in the nvidia-XF86config-4 file that I need to change?

Thanks

Thanks for your help that fixed it. I have noticed that I am seeing scan lines is that normal or is there a way to fix that. I do have it hookup to a projector on a pretty big screen right now, so I am not sure if it is just because it is on a bigger screen or if that is normal.

Thank again for the help.

If you still haven't resolved this, I just wanted to let you know that many projectors also take VGA, DVI, or component video inputs, which may yield better results. DVI would be the best option, followed by VGA, then component.

The Dragon video card does VGA and DVI, and there are VGA->component converters (such as the Audio Authority 9A60 or the Key Digital KD-VTCA3) that can get component video from the Dragon to the projector.

hit ctrl+alt+F2
login using root and the root password you created during install

type
nano /etc/X11/XF86Config-4
(the above command is case sensitive.)

then find the spot in that file where it says

Option TVOutFormat Svideo
and change the svideo to composite
(I'm probably missing some quotes or caps in that line its from memory, but you should be able to find it and all you need to change is the one word.)

then I really don't use nano, so I forget how to get out of it, but I think it tells you how to get to a menu or something.

once you've saved the file reboot.
