Post subject:  Hauppauge PVR 350 Connection Problem

I am farily new to Linux and thought building a mythbox would be a good way to learn the os. So far so good. I have been able to get a basic set up going and I am able to watch TV on my PC monitor...and I get some dark faint images on the TV. I cant figure out why I cant get anything to display on the TV properly! I suspect it may be a possible wiring problem? I have it set up as follows:

DirectTV box connects to PVR 350 via S-video
PVR connects to TV via (hybrid?) S-video
Nvidia Ti4600 connects to PC monitor

I have the audio RCA (Red White) going from DirectTV box to the TV...there is seems to be a delay as the video is not in sync with the audio.

I have the most current build of Knoppixmyth.
I have also tooled around with ivtv to no avail. I also have some error when configuring the frontend telling it to use the PVR350's mpeg2 encoder it says I need to load ivtv-fb and it needs to be configured properly. I have no idea how to configure it.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Yes, you need the audio to go via the 350 as well otherwise why bother? The delay is because live TV is buffered for about 4 seconds thru mythtv. If you don't put audio thru you can't pause live audio, record it etc.

What steps did you follow to get the TVout working? Here:

or SnapperDragon's getpvr.pl script or roll your own?
