I was wondering if this hardware will work out of the box: Firewire Input from DCT-6200(PCI firewire card from belkin) PVR-150 and its Remote(silver one if I remember correctly) and an Nvidia 6200 integrated graphics AMD processor(3200+ sempron i think) 512 MB RAM if it won't work out of the box is it something simple to fix, i am relatively new to linux and dont want to get in over my head Thanks In Advance EDIT: the hdd ise ide |

Usually things don't just work out of the box. Be prepared to have issues and have to search through the forum. I can tell you from personal experience that the firewire to DCT6200 does not work flawlessly. Some days it works, other days it just decides not to, and will require some maintenence to get it back up and running. The PVR150 will be reliable once it is set up properly. You have enough processor power for HD, but the 512MB RAM might be low. If you run into problems, upgrade to 1GB. I was also relatively new to linux (and still am) when I built my first MythTV, although I have extensive computing experience outside of linux. MythTV is my reason to finally buckle down and learn the innards of linux. If you do not have the time to do so (or care), I would suggest something more novice friendly, like Tivo or Beyond TV. |

just installed whihc went fine, however after i restarted I got a very long error with the nvidia graphics driver, I believe that the problem is that my 6100(relatively new) is not supported by the 7174 driver. I am wondering whether just updating to 8756 will fix this(it does support the 6100). I remember reading somewhere that this driver has a problem. Any suggestions? PS: Is the command to get the new driver # wget http://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linu ... 6-pkg1.run # sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-8756-pkg1.run |

There are two or three things that are known to trigger high CPU usage issues. If you avoid those it should be OK, I won't try to list them all here since it's been covered in far more detail elsewhere than I care to repeat. ![]() |

If you haven't already run netcardconfig that's a good start. After that, run ifconfig to verify the setup, and try something like: Code: wget "http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=LinuxTips"
to prove that you can get stuff off the net. |

anohter question ![]() if two recordings are both set to have a one minute cushion and are back to back, is there anyway to get myth to just ignore the cushion in cases like this(so as not to miss out on an entire recording)? |
