I built my first combined backend/frontend using a Nova-T and its remote, but now I am in the process of splitting backend to a separate machine. That means the Nova-T will end up in the backend. Anybody knows if there is an reasonably easy way to use the IR-receiver for the Nova-T with some homebrew circuit? I know it's easy to build a serial receiver for use with lirc, but I just hate to throw away working stuff if it can be used:-) Maybe the Nova-T receiver can be used to build the lirc serial receiver? |

I'm sure I've read somewhere you can use one of those IR recievers plugged into a microphone of a sound card... Of course i have no idea how lol EDIT: i might have been confused: http://www.lirc.org/ir-audio.html |

Yes I've read that stuff on the lirc site. What I am looking for is someone who have reverse-engineered the Nova-T sensor (it has a 3-pole 2,5 mm plug so it is likely that it is just a plain IR-module and can be used for a homebrew receiver). I have ordered a second Nova-T for my to-be backend so I will look at the board when it comes and maybe measure on the sensor. Just thought that maybe someone else had already done it (but didn't find anything by googling, so I thought I'd drop a post and see if someone eles had seen something). |

I'm also looking into the same thing. I have two Nova-t's so i could butcher one, but i'd rather not cut it up. What i was considering, getting a female 2.5mm audio socket and making an adapter. Ring = signal Tip = VCC+ In case there is doubt, that's the conductors listed from the cable end of the plug to the tip in order. So, Does this mean that it can be attached directly to the serial port? ie: Signal = Pin 1 Power = Pin 7 Grounnd = Pin 5 |

No, but you can probably use it to build a simple lirc serial port receiver. |
