Is there a R6 script or setup screen to add firefox to the myth menu? I have firefox running but need to exit myth to use it.

I saw that post too but I was thinking that the changes to the menu may be wiped out if I run a mythvantage script (for some other reason) at somepoint in the future.

I noticed the check box in the Linhes setup menu for mythbrowswer and thought there should be something like that for firefox.

I don't know if this is want you want but the other way would be to select Firefox as the default browser for Web inside Myth. The wiki explains how to do it for R5.x but I managed to get it working for R6.02 on my test machine. I think I had to change the actual address of Firefox though (not at my machine now).

When you want to edit/change a "system" menu like /usr/share/mythtv/is.xml as detailed in the link noted in the post above, I suggest not editing the file in place. Instead copy it to your ~/.mythtv directory and then edit it there. Mythfrontend will use it instead of the "system" version. Thus making you immune to overwrites by updates or MythVantage.

Of course when you do updates it might be smart to check the new "system" version for anything you want in your local copy.

:)

Thanks. That makes a lot of sense.
