Minor annoyance but in several menus like upcoming recordings, whenenver there is a time with more than 3 digits (ie 10 11 12:00) all I get is 1... http://www.flickr.com/photos/mattbatt/5098608726/
how do I fix this. I've tried different themes I've tried lowering the font size. Other suggestions.
I'm running mythtv at 1080
thanks.

I noticed in other themes that some other items weren't working either. For example in the blue-abstract theme I could see in the information center that there was a transcoding going on but the sentence was cut off before it said what program was transcoding.

I see this with Retro-wide as well. It's on my "to look into" list (which is not written, just in my head  ) but I've yet to get around to it. As you say, it's a minor annoyance to me as well.

Strange. It looks like you are using Blue Abstract which works fine for me. It is a 16:9 theme. I do get the effect you are showing though when I run it on a 4:3 screen.

yes it's the blue-abstract widescreen theme but the problem is present in many other themes.

Well the real questions it seems is where can you change the size of the font in use to resolve the problem.

I don't think this is the right place to ask. I would go directly to the author of the theme or post to the mythtv-user mailing list as there are theme developers there who will know off the top of their head.

I assume you have poked around at the xml files in: /usr/share/mythtv/themes/blue-abstract-wide

well I can't blame the individual themes because it seems to be affecting most themes. I've tried changing all the font sizes but nothing seems to affect it. The only other thing I can think of is that my front end isn't actually running at 1080x1920. I had to do some overscan correction, that might be part of the problem?

I did some poking into blue-abstract and found a post from the author saying that he fixed this problem. So I downloaded the newest version of the theme and still the problem exists. I did some poking into the xml files and found that the author of the theme specifies the font size in the theme for some items (GREAT I'VE DONE IT I'VE FOUND THE ANSWER) nope not really nothing is clearly labeled in the xml.
Also in looking at this page http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Blue_Abstract_Theme I'm missing alot of those cool picture backgrounds I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

This post says that the font size option will be going away soon. http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/m ... me;#426680

mattbatt,
not sure what to tell you. I think you are likely correct that it is not a theme issue and likely something to do with the actual resolution you are running on the TV. For my HD TV's I have both an older 720p system and a couple of 1080p systems and of course an older XBR. I have no issue except on the XBR which is 4:3. I could use another theme but I love how this theme uses the fanart.

The cool background pictures require you to grab the fan art using something like mythvideo to retrieve metadata, jamu (mythtv official script support) or mythvideo-scanner (BigB's LinHES solution). I use all three for different tasks.

Have you tried messing with your xorg.conf? You can turn off EdidDpi and adjust DPI settings to see how that changes things.

Code:
 Section "Monitor"
        Option "UseEdidDpi" "FALSE"
        Option "DPI" "100 x 100"
