I do that for some shows for the same reason but in general they just record new episodes of a show. I have lots of disk space so that is not an issue.

I'm not worried about recorder activity. The rule is the kids can set priorities below 10 as they wish. In general all of my stuff starts at 10. So I always get priority.

This is the 2nd or 3rd iteration of this system. I've had some bad luck with HD failures and started from zero recordings once or twice in the last 4 years.

I'm surprised mine is so much higher than everybody else!! I forgot to have cake for it's sixth birthday - too busy eating turkey for (Canadian) Thanksgiving!!
