I'm running on the testing repositories and I have mythtv-svn installed.

When I try and run a pacman -Syu I'm getting the following error:
Code:
error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies)
:: vdpinfo: requires nvidia-utils=185.18.36
:: vdpinfo: requires nvidia=185.18.36

However, it looks like that's the version of nvidia drivers I already have:
Code:
[root@mythfront1 ~]# grep NVIDIA /var/log/messages.log
Dec 22 18:14:03 mythfront1 ACPI: DSDT 3FEF3240, 81C0 (r1 NVIDIA ASUSACPI     1000 MSFT  3000000)
Dec 22 18:14:04 mythfront1 nvidia: module license 'NVIDIA' taints kernel.
Dec 22 18:14:04 mythfront1 NVRM: loading NVIDIA UNIX x86 Kernel Module  185.18.36  Fri Aug 14 17:18:04 PDT 2009

Thoughts?

Okay, I followed the instructions here to get to a more normal setup and this seems to have resolved my upgrade issues:

Hi kmkittre,

I can trouble you to be a little more specific regarding what parts of that thread you relied to address the error with vdpinfo? The thread is currently 4 pages. I am planning an upgraded to R6.02. I'm running a older version of LinHES I installed back in Sept 09. I ran into the same issue running "pacman -Syu" this morning. I was considering using the -f flag and hoping for the best. I figure I could always install from ISO and restore with a recent backup if things don't work. I see no reason to use an unstable branch now that mythtv .22 has bee released in R6.02.

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Have you upgraded? Why not use the instructions I posted?

I have not upgraded yet. I'm traveling for work and waiting for a clear weekend just in case I hit a glitch. The family would miss their LinHES!

I didn't try your instructions as I thought I should bring my system up to date before I ran the upgrade_to_0.22.sh script. I have not done a pacman -Syu since last October. (Everything was working to my satisfaction so I did want to mess with it.)

Is it safe to run the upgraded_to_0.22.sh script without having had run the pacman -Syu?

Follow my instructions. It will bring your system up to date. If you just pacman -Syu, you'll most likely have issues. The script will walk you thru the process.

Just to complete the thought on this thread... I finally had a clear weekend. I upgraded the backend using cecil's instructions. Upgrade went without a hitch (for the most part...). Backend is up and running!
