Just did a fresh install of Linhes 6.03, sorting things out, and one of the big issues is I can't play any of my avi files. Wouldn't be a big issue, but I have two kids who might die without having Dora to watch. All the videos show up, other file types play (mp4, mpg). I've messed with the file settings in the setup, but can't find any combination to make it work. Any ideas before the kids (and I) go insane?

Have you checked your "file types" to ensure .avi is defined and linked to a player? I am not in front of my machine right now so doing this from memory (dangerous). Go to

Service Menu>Mythtv Configuration>Setup>Media Settings>Video Settings>File Types

search through there

AVI is defined, and is set to command: internal and use default player

I've tried putting in mplayer as the command, but it does the same thing. It shows up, and I go to play, and it doesn't do anything, just sits there.

Uncheck the "use default player" and make sure it is "Internal" with a capital "I".

The internal player does support AVI files...

Thanks, that worked. I'm not sure what happened to cause problems. My kids (and my sanity) thank you!
