New installation of Linhes 6.03, and I'm working through the issues. I usually transcode the recorded shows that get kept long term to save on space. When I try to transcode if I look at the status of the job, this comes up:
Job: Transcode
Status: Errored
Status Time: Wed Sep 15 7:40 AM
Host: mythtv
Comments:
Unrecoverable Error
Looking at mythbackend.log the following shows up:

I followed this from another message board
Quote: Frontend>setup>TVsettings>General page 3: check default auto transcode. Set default transcoder to autodetect Frontend>TV settings>Recording profiles: Transcoders> Autodetect from RTjpeg/MPEG4 check the box for lossless transcoding. Autodetect from MPEG2 check the box for lossless transcoding. Hardware encoders (PVR-x50, etc.) recording profiles are somewhat subjective. I have the default set to (what I think is) a DVD compatible format. 720x480, bitrate 5800-8000, audio 48k layer II 384 kbps. You can go less for lower quality and reduced filesize. DVB, nothing to configure- TV only.
but it didn't seem to make any difference, I'm not sure what I am really looking for though, everything seems to be set.

You should check the database. There is a table of transcoding profiles, and when I did a clean install a few years ago mine was empty.
You should check this. I don't have any access to my box from here (work) but that is what I would check first.
Mike

Can anyone give me some instructions on what to look for exactly? And where to look?

In the age of Google, you need to learn how to search for information for yourself. Type in "transcode profiles knoppmyth" and click on "I'm feeling lucky": The first result will get you to the answer.
If you're annoyed at me right now, answer this: Is it unreasonable to expect people to use a search engine first?
Apologies if you are more than 80 years old or living in a third world country.

Not annoyed at all, I was trying to search using mysql commands, thinking I'd have to go in that way based on the previous post. I'll double check the settings in myth when I am back in front of it.
